This idea for a thread has occurred to me, since it will be the start of 5-yes 5! days of ghost-hunting with the Most Haunted Live! team tomorrow in Turin- commonly known as Satan's City! .
Being an avid fan of the show and of all things spooky, and also having experienced a few things myself, what are your thoughts/theories/ideas about ghosts/spirits, and the paranormal?
Are you a believer? Sceptic? or generally open-minded?

Not sure about ghosts etc Motown Diva. Many years ago went to a hotel in Kent where the owner had recently died. There was a dispute over the will so myself and the chap who was looking after it were the only residents in a 20 Bedroom mansion.During the evening he told me how seances had been held there and various spirits had appeared to them.Went to bed that night and with the water pipies clanking and the branches of a tree brushing against your window, its amazing your imagination thinks up!!! I was so glad when morning came.!!

I had a scary dream last night about ghosts and dead people and cats on a boat in the sea and people were pushing the cats off the boat, it was horrible! And I dreamed I had a hamster and I forgot about it and it died

Awww are you ok now Sara? I hate it when you have dreams that are so vivid like that...
Apart from my seeing myself in the mirror first thing in the morning- which is quite a scary sight! , I try to be open-minded about stuff! There are a few places near me which are haunted for sure! Dudley Castle, The Station Hotel, Black Country Museum are some of the 'known' locations- there are loads more.
Paul-Dusty-fan- The show in itself has got better regarding locations. As much as I love the show, I'm still not 100% convinced that all the things that happen are 'paranormal'. I suppose unless you experience something for yourself, there will always be doubt as to the validity of such happenings.

Not too long ago I started collecting people's ghost stories and don't really know what to believe myself. I never really had a ghostly experience so I don't really dare to judge on it. But why not? Most stereotypes are true - why not rumours about ghosts?
Great thread by the way!

Hi Mowtown.
The problem with Derek, was that you knew that in every show, he was going to have one of his fits. So predictable.
But you would think that with all the places that they have been to, that yevette would be used to strange goings on.
There are some vids on Youtube of him pretending to have been taken over, so to speak, and then straightening up and laughing.
Yes i have experienced some strange things in my life. Once when i used to work in a Auto warehouse in charge of the paint store, which had to have the metal shutters closed all the time. (except for exit and entry) One day i was walking down one of the isles, when a couple of spray cans fell on the floor, about 10 yards in front of me. I continued to walk towards where the cans were, and suddenly became aware that i felt really strange, and felt i just had to keep going, really push myself forward, to where the cans were.
Then there's the one where my wife was in bed and felt a strange feeling come over her, and thought it was her mother there. She said the usual things and all was well. The day in question would have been her mum's birthday. She had passed away a few years earlier.
Then there was the time when her mum died. She had been in hospital for a couple of days. (admitted on a friday) Well we had her sister and dad up for sunday lunch, and her dad fell asleep in the arm chair, when all of a sudden he said "Bet don't go" and was still asleep. The time was 14:20 the time she died. He never remembered saying that, but we all heard it. Strange.
Then there was the time i passed out in the garden and woke up in hospital looked at the clock, and the time was 14:20.
My mum had a few paranormal experiences too.
But thats enough for now.

Thanks for sharing this with us Paul... I'm always happy to see new ghost reports.
Many of the people I spoke to had similar experiences where one of their relatives, who maybe recently had passed away, appeared again at night. I remember one story where a man was absolutely convinced that his mother was sitting on a chair in his bedroom. His wife, who was also there, couldn't see anything and went back to sleep. But he claims that he talked to his mum all night.
Luckily none of my loved ones has passed away yet and I don't really want to put it to the test.
Anyway guys - keep them coming! I'm loving this!

A friend of mine used to live with her Gran and inherited the house when her Gran died. After a while she decided to move things around a bit, furniture wise, and moved her Gran's favourite armchair from one side of the lounge to the other and every morning when she got up it was back in it's original place and there was always the faint smell of Lavender water that her Gran used to wear!!
This went on for about 6 months until she decided she wasn't going to win so she left the chair in it's orginal place and it never moved around again... I guess Gran made her point!!
And another ex-friend now used to live in a large 10 bedroom 400 year old Manor House that had a gatehouse with twin towers; the gatehouse was used for laying out family members when they passed away before burial and they were always left with candles burning in the towers. My friend's family never used the gatehouse and it was always kept locked yet on many nights when she was awake and couldn't sleep she would always see lights in the towers!!

Wow! It's great to hear all your stories and experiences... and I echo what Vera said,'keep em comin'' I 'm so glad I started this thread now, to be honest I thought you might have all thought I was just being wierd, but I really wanted to hear what you all thought.
My earliest experiences was when I was about 4/5 years old. My parents' were the second couple to move into our house, as the previous occupants were an elderly couple whom my parent's knew. The husband sadly died in our house- not sure which room. Anyway, my parent's were frequently subjected to my outbursts during the night, where I would scream and cry saying there was a man in the corner of my room. My parent's initally thought I was having bad dreams, and ignored it at first. It continued until my parents' suspected there was something wrong, as the same thing was happening nearly every night. Being quite young I obviously couldn't be precise with my vocabulary, but I eventually described the man I was seeing- it matched the description of the husband. Some time later, my Aunty and Uncle decided to try and 'exorcise' my room...
To this day I don't have clear memories of these events, so most of the blanks have been filled in for me. I still feel uneasy in my room at night- I still think that we are occasionally 'visited' by the previous owners, but thankfully I have not seen anything else yet! However, there is the odd time when the man's tobacco smoke can still be strongly scented in the house.
Still want to hear more?.... I promise you all sincerely that I'm not making this up.

ive got some ghost stories- well things that have reamained unexplained The first story goes back to 1979, the year i left school, the night before my english literature 'o' level exam- It was very warm evening and instead of setting myself down to do some last minute revision for the next days exam i decided i would go fishing not just for a few hours but all night, so i jumped on my pushbike loaded with fishing tackle and sandwiches and a bottle of squash i set off, now the pond that i was fishing is very secluded alongside a country lane opposite a very old church, to non locals the church and the pond looks out of place and being as if, in the middle of nowhere, but it is on the site of an old medievel village that was raised to the ground during the great plague, only the church remains and the village was never rebuilt. the church and church yard has a fence of iron rails and a very heavy iron latch gate at the entrance which faces the lane directly opposite the pond, the pond is very pretty in the summer complete with water lillies and weeping willows. I settled down to fish in the corner of the pond about twenty meters from the road and about fifty meters from the church gate, i remember i caught a lot of fish and really enjoying the evening, looking forward to the exam the following day knowing that after the english lit exam i only had one final 'o' level to do then i would finally finish school and look forward to going to college later in the year, the light began to fade as the sun was setting, behind me in the west, as the light faded and the sun gradually dulled to an orange glow leaving a fantastic sunset behind it and very clear sky, the full moon appeared over the willows opposite me and then i knew that it was going to be one of those nights where it never got fully dark and you could see a fair distance in the gloomy light. I continued to catch a few fish, the odd car went past, the owls were talking to each other and flitting about in the trees looking for thier evening meals and lots of bats were flying around over the water catching thier lunch of small moth's and flies too.a very peacefull setting, i could still see a fair distance, the cows in the meadow around the church and even badgers crossing the fields behind me.at one o'clock the temparature dropped the fish ceased to feed and all the wildlife seemed to have had enough for the evening and disappeared- when all of a sudden i heard the church gate open and close- i heard the latch open, the gate squeak open and close and finally the latch dropped into place, i jumped up with a start to see who it was- there was no one there at all no one on the road and no one in the churchyard- i got to the road, still no one, and then to the gate, there was no one in the church yard, i jumped over the fence and walked all around the church, still no one- completely puzzled by what i had heard i tried the gate i opened the latch opened the gate and then closed it and dropped the latch, exactly what i had heard only a minute before--now if there had been a person used that gate i would have seen them i know that in my own mind that i didnt imagine what i had heard there is no explanation for what i heard, unlike a few weeks later when i was fishing the pond again at night with my beat mate- it was a completely different night, dry but very windy and cloudy . i had told me mate what happened and we just laughed it off as a ghost story, as you do.well this particullar evening the wind was blowing and wasnt such a peacefull evening as the time a few weeks earlier, at around 11 o'clock we heard a strange noise coming from the church, we strained our ears to listen and realised the organ was playing-well being young and wanting to show off to each other we decided to investigate so to the church we went there was no light on in the church but the organ was definately making a noise we tried the door and it opened- as we opened the door the organ stopped- we were convinced something was going on but couldnt see any one around- so we deliberated for a while and decided the place must be haunted we shut the door and decided to pack up and go home- we walked away and the organ started again- by this time we were moving rather rapidly! gathering my thoughts and all the bravado i could muster i stopped and said i'm gonna have a proper look so went back to have a proper look i opened the church door, again the organ stopped, with my mate close behind me entered the church and switched the lights on closed the door behind us - well the the organ started to "play" again but as we were stood in the aisle we could feel the draught from the door blowing up the aisle and straight onto the tubes of the organ!!!!! oh how we laughed!!! we still laugh about it now thirty years later-- but to this day i still cant find an explanation as to how the church gate opened and closed on its own-- even talking to other friends that have fished the village pond at night a lot of them say that they have witnessed and heard some very unexplained happenings around the church and pond- one even refuses to go there in the daytime!!! i have another story too i'll save that for another day |

Another one from me.
A few days before we to have our 3 legged dog put to sleep, i took some photos of her. She was in our front room lying down and i took a couple of photos of her. When i loaded them onto the pc and looked at the photos i noticed an Orb very close to her. It was only on the one photo. There was not any dust on the lens either. And the strange thing is that when printed on plain paper and looked at in a certain way, you could see a dogs face in the middle of it. Goose bumps and tears for me now as she was such a loving dog.
My daughter took loads of photos around the house over the next few weeks (after she had gone) and some photos had Orb's on them, and some did'nt tho taken straight after one another.
I still have some of the photos stored away on somewhere on the PC. If found i will put one on this site.

Thanks for sharing Paul-Dusty-fan! I suppose the next obvious question to ask would be, would you be prepared to spend the night in a haunted location- or more interestingly, do a vigil on your own?
Providing that it was a properly co-ordinated search with a decent medium, and as much as I probably would get scared, I would jump at the chance to be apart of doing an investigation for the night! Where? Well probably a theatre or hotel, not really keen on a location out in the middle of nowhere- i.e. Pendle Hill
As for doing a vigil on my own..... yes I would, purely because I would want things to happen for me.

I think I'd be open to being part of an investigation into the paranormal... as in a Theatre or somewhere like that(Did you know that Drury Lane Theatre is haunted?)..
As for Pendle Hill, I think I would be slightly scared of bumping into a Witch, or one of her Familiars, as they used to call the Witches cat....
I don't think I'd have the courage to do any of it alone though....and I'd have to have a Witness, to prove I wasn't going loopy!..

Me too! Have I told you all my poltergeist story? When I was a teenager, I went round to a friend's and when I got there, she and another two of our friends were freaking out saying stuff was moving about in her room and that the light was going on ond off. I thought they were winding me up so I laughed at them and said to the light, "hello, do something then!", expecting nothing to happen.. But as soon as I said it this picture of the virgin Mary shot off the Hifi sideways, it was freaky! We all screamed and ran downstairs.
