just re-read thru the last few posts --- i have got to agree with Marty- after seeing the matthew street videos i was a bit trepidant about seeing Katy live- the matthew street performance was very poor compared with what i saw at worthing. Altho Katy did say it was a "warm up gig"
Katy at worthing, to quote Andy's words from "the one and only" was 'just wonderous'-- Katy's voice is very strong and she sounded spot on, fantastic live performance, loads of emotion and fervour Katys, Dusty "actions", were no way over the top
i could describe number by number how Katy was so like Dusty in her videos, Katy's first song really blew me away and i was hooked into the show from that moment, katy has obviously done a lot of homework watching videos etc, all credit to her, i hope her hard work really pays off, will we see a second "Dusty" album from her?, theres a lot of Dusty tracks i'd like to hear Katy have a crack at.

First week on the road
Current mood: ecstatic
What a busy time I'm having! The radio interviews are still frequent, and the gigs are wall-to-wall for the next fortnight.
Tonight it was great to see so many familiar faces at Kings Lynn Corn Exchange; huge audience and a fab reception. Thank you all. See you again soon?
I'm hoping to begin work on the next tour for the new year after talks with my management and promotion companies - so watch this space!
I hope you're liking the new CD; your thoughts are most welcome - as are your suggestions for a follow-up album.
There's still a possibility of me singing on the Alan Titchmarsh show in the very near future, and there will be some local TV promo spots too.
Definitely time for bed; tomorrow (tonight, actually!) we're in Stevenage and it's our first sell-out venue so I'm going to rest as much as possible now.

i think our own resident Diva is next up to enjoy the Katy experience
Altho, i have treated my 'Mum and Dad' to tickets to see Katy at Shrewsbury next week
suggestions for a second album???????
i wonder if Katy has thought about releasing a single??? its a while since we've had a Dusty song in the charts, is'nt it???? well all the x-factor pop-idol etc fianalists have done it , so why not "the one and only" winner? any thoughts?

Next time I get the opportunity to have a proper natter with Katy I do want to ask her in what direction she sees her singing career going in, post this 'Dusty' tour.
Katy as Katy IS something special - but as we know there are a lot of darn good singers around who can't make it/haven't made it for whatever reason......of course, although Katy has been in the business for years its her success on 'The One and Only' as Dusty which has brought her to the attention of the masses.
So......in terms of a second album I do have mixed feelings. I'm sure she is referring to a second album of Dusty songs (? might be wrong there but I assumed she meant that as she has already a couple out in her own right). I don't know if I would honestly want that, after all where do you now go with that and where would would you stop?
I suppose what I'm saying is that I would SO want Katy to become a big star in her own right because I reckon all things being equal she has what it takes. I'm sure she'll continue to find work as 'Dusty' for a long while to come so I guess its where she wants to focus.
In terms of a single, I imagine there would be no real chance of that until she gets her recording contract. Her current albums are through Andy and Katy's co as I understand it. I'd want a 'Katy' single anyway not a 'Dusty' one .

I quite agree Janie, we had the real Dusty and while we're happy for Katy to rekindle the flame we don't want her making a career out of it. As you say she has talent in her own right.
Am I right in saying Katy's cd is available at her shows but not online yet? |

I'm not saying I don't want Katy to have a career as Dusty, Karl - if that is what she wants and she can earn her crust, well the very best of luck to her. I sense though that she wants to be recognised as Katy, rather than the woman who 'does' Dusty - from a perso nal perspectve, having seen her now on so very many occasions, that is what I would wish for her as well. Of course, Janie, Katy's prize was the three month contract in vegas- whereas the popfactory and x idol win a recording contract that they have to fullfill, hence they are always producing singles!
Doh- i didnt give that much thought really did i! sorry
it is good to hear that she has a sell out venue- we can hope, for Katy, that it is a sign of good things to come for her.

Janie and Karl, I asked Katy this exact question in Vegas and her reply was that she enjoys doing both equally. She does not consider herself an "Impersonator" but rather a fan of Dusty's paying tribute to her.
