I listened to the new cd today, all the hits are in mono but "Give Me Time" has a slightly altered introduction of 5 beats instead of the usual 7. I compared it to the A & B side 2cd set and that has the intro we know so well and the original single also had that intro so why after all these years has it been altered?

Apart from that it sounds great.

Wayne if you read this, care to throw any light on this?

Gold does not seem to be in any shops yet.

I hope it arrives by next week. I know it can be obtained via Amazon but for it to sell well its gotta be in record selling stores.

It was in the local record shop (Astleys) in Wallingford on Tuesday!
Of course Sutton Coldfield is a bit of a 'backwater'

It has recently been pointed out to me that this version of Give Me Time was also on Classics & Collectables. I never noticed the difference then, perhaps I was distracted when that track was playing.

This cd may not show up in the stores for awhile as it is not a major release, even HMV don't always get them for a week or two.

Yay for itunes!
I haven't got it yet.. I think 'I Wish That Love Would Last' is underrated, it hardly ever gets mentioned. I love it!

Talking of vinyl I see the forthcoming Neil Diamond album is also going to be released on vinyl - perhaps it'll make a huge comeback?

I still have a turntable as I have a load of vinyl and a lot of it has never been released on cd, when I get time I put some of my favourites onto cd myself.

Has anyone seen Dusty's Gold cd in any record store? I certainly haven't.

I think the large stores are lousy for things like that, I'll bet the small cd stores will have it in stock. Places like HMV etc often get them in weeks after the release date!

I tried looking for the new album two months ago in HMV and others- not a sign. Now two months on, and unless the shops near me have had a record sale- which is not in any way a bad thing, then I STILL haven't got it!

My parents' said they're gonna buy it as a prezzie for my birthday- as I've been hinting LOADS and badgering them to see if they have spotted it, so I'm not gonna buy it online now.

...anyhoo, twill be worth the wait for another month-ish!

Now that I have my copy, well what can I say?......fabulous!

I could not wait to play it, and when I did, I wasn't disappointed!. Apart from listening to tracks like; IOWTBWY, SOAPM, YDHTSYLM, there are a few songs that I hadn't heard yet... boy was I in my element!. Some of the songs I hadn't heard included;

Love Power
Magic Garden
Live It Up
Haunted

...it's only been a week since I got it, but I've been playing it almost non-stop, and hasten to add that these songs have now become as much apart of me as the others- plus I've learnt the lyrics too!

Hi Emma

I kinda envy you discovering new great tracks but we've all had the pleasure...

When I first heard 'Live It Up' around 2000 it knocked my socks right off, still does. It's an all time Dusty favourite now.

I'm a 5th Dimension fan and 'Magic Garden' is one of theirs from an album that was written for them by Jim Webb (called 'Magic Garden'). If you listen closely you can hear Dusty's edits (that's got to be her producing) especially sometimes where she changes key.

Love Power is so smiley I can imagine Dusty and Madeline having lots of fun in the studio.

You're letting me down girl, how come you've never heard Love Power when I toldya Play.com were selling several of Dusty's cd's
including "Defintely" for the amazing price of £2.99 with free postage!!!!

Live It Up has always been a favourite of mine as it was first heard in the UK on the ep "Dusty In New York". However I later bought it on a US LP and the Stereo version just sounded so great!

Now you know how we all felt in the 60's discovering how great Dusty was/is!

Thanks for that Memphis, I'll have to listen a wee bit more closely to see where the 'joins' are- difficult though, as you can hardly tell because they are so well done!. Another song I forgot to mention that really struck a chord- far more than some of the ones I have mentioned, was 'If You Go Away'- I really had to sit down and pay attention (not that I don't always!), what a romantic and emotive song that is!. 'Love Power' to me, is a song that just makes me wanna get up and sing along to it with Dusty- sort of the same 'sister' feeling one may associate with the song, 'Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves'- if you know where I'm coming from?.

Rep: What can I say apart from.....sorry!!! But at least I've heard it now, and I can now appreciate the way you and others felt back in the 60s, when these songs were coming thick and fast- and what a selection they are! I love the way Dusty could switch the way in which she sang to suit the different types of songs. I'm still waiting for the invention of the 'Time Machine'- as I think many of us are, then I'm off back to the 60s to experience first-hand the impact and incredible vibe Dusty gave (and still does).

Hoping you're both well,

Emma xXx
