Marty I think you have to see things from Katy's point of view.
She is now starring in her own show, not sharing the bill with other artists so she is able to show the public what she can really do and not limit herself to a few songs as she did in Las Vegas.
It's too bad you can't see her now in her two hour plus show! |

Karl I do totally see Katy's point of view, but what can I say, I'm on this side of the Atlantic. I also know that she missed Andy, three months is a long time to be away from your husband and he was only able to visit her for one week.
As far as seeing her now during her current tour, don't tempt me, LOL! I might just ring your doorbell one day!

Hello everyone. This is going to be my very first on this message board and I must admit that this time last week, I didn't even know about this website. But I am absolutely thrilled now. I am actually listening to my very first Dusty CD which was delivered today.
I don't want to bore you but I just thought I would share my story with you. I am generally into rock music, I've been overdosing on The Clash lately and I basically enjoy music lead by guitars. But I went to see Katy a couple of weeks ago with my friends in Wycombe and I was completely blown away. I just couldn't wait to hear You Don't Have To Love Me, I was on the edge of my seat every time I heard the first beat of a new song. She had me in tears at one song... She is such a fantastic artist, singer and she looked absolutely stunning on stage.
She did the Tina Turner walk (which was ever so funny) but at one point, someone stood up from the front row - how very rude - and left for about the 3rd time that evening. She didn't notice that Katy was following her on the edge of the stage, still doing that funny walk. The whole audience was laughing, it was soooooo funny.
What I also found great was that she talked between the songs, she introduced songs and she said something very interesting about these songs every time. I learned so many interesting facts about Dusty. To be honest, I had to realize I didn't know anything about her before. I knew she was one of the greatest singers this world has ever seen and that was about it. Very bad I know. But here I am, listening to my first CD and I am loving it.
I queued up half an hour to get my programme and 3 CD's (2 extra ones for my mum and my mother-in-law) signed by Katy after the show. She had time for every single person, she was ever so friendly and kind to everyone. I was ever so nervous and managed to make a fool of myself by a strange comment
She's won me over. I just can't stop listening her CD - 2 more to buy - and now I even have a double Dusty CD to enjoy too. I'm gonna see Katy in Dorking in a couple of weeks with my hubby. And what he doesn't know yet is that I've bought tickets for the Peterborough concert. It's a 2 hour drive each way but it will be worth it. I'm yet to break the news.... the tickets were delivered today and he saw the letter what seemed like tickets from Peterborough. He is getting very suspicious. Bet he knows my plan. I can't stop singing Dusty songs at home and talking about the Wycombe concert.
Can't believe myself |

I'm also going to Dorking so lets keep an eye out for one another........I'll touch base with you nearer the time as it would be great to say hello to you in person. Thanks, Janie
Well he won't read my posts so I am safe but I am still waiting for the right moment to announce my surprise. He'll think I am MAD. Just cannot wait to be driving off to Peterborough next weekend.
Just one funny thing before I sign off: I drove into the car park at work the other day and my best mate / colleague greeted me by saying 'I heard you arrive... Katy was blaring out.'
See you at Dorking then. Look forward to it.

Back from Peterborough!
It was quite a ride, I must admit. We left home at about 2 o'clock and we actually saw Andy putting some stuff into the tourbus. I just suddenly had this thrill.... 'this is it, we're going to see Katy tonight'. I had to try so hard not to give anything away as my husband still didn't know at this time where we were going on what we were going to do.
We went bowling to have a bit of fun before the concert and also to mislead him as to why we were in Peterborough. Then dinner which had to be all finished in less than 30 minutes in order to leave for the venue in time. My husband's comment: 'I've never ever seen you getting ready so quickly for going out'). I was in fact so nervous I could hardly eat. How silly I was getting so nervous as I had no idea about how or where we could park and where the venue was. We finally found it with 5 minutes to go just to see the car park nearly empty. I was so upset! I thought we had got lost and we were going to miss the concert. I think there was another car park on the other side of the building though. The corridors leaving to the concert hall were empty so I was getting a bit worried but we eventually found where we needed to go.
2nd row, couldn't get much better. I am really rubbish at writing concert reviews so I will not attempt anything serious but let me just say, I loved every second of the concert. I was so happy to be there after this long wait that I was getting a bit emotional at the thought of finally having made it. And Katy hadn't even got on stage yet.
There are no half measures with me, you see
I seemed to be the youngest member of the audience which I still find strange. Katy made a reference to something in the 60's that probably the audience could remember (a big positive reply from the crowd) only for me to look at my hubby and giggle. In fact I did feel like a little puppy after the concert. Most of these people had been fans before I was even born! But I was very proud to be there and to show that Dusty's music touches any generations.
The band was marvellous as we have come to learn and experience and I thoroughly enjoyed watching how they communicated on stage and how Andy was leading the band. It was great to watch Al doing his solos from so close and trying to memorise the chords he was using for I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself. This is the only song I can play on the guitar myself.
It is amazing how many songs you get to hear in an evening and for novices like me (must have been the only one in the audience though), it was absolutely fantastic. I wrote down the set list for myself so that I know what other tracks I should listen to.
Katy was sooooooooooooooo ..... ran out of adjectives now (excuse me, I'm a foreigner, ) She just continues to shine on stage. Me as a rock chick, I just can't explain how refreshing it is to see her and her band. She sang all my favourite songs and I could not stop smiling. Someone would have thought I was on drugs or something. I thought Andy smiled at me a few times only to later realize it must have been the girl in the front row. I am gutted!

My favourite songs of the evening were Going Back (you just can't wait for Katy to come on stage and you're trying to guess which side she is going to come from.. aaah, priceless), Stay Awhile, Middle of Nowhere, Can I Get A Witness, Wishin' and Hopin', IDKWTDWM, In Private, What Have I Done To Deserve This, ............. hm...... I have just noticed there would be about 7-8 more songs which means my list sort of loses its point
The first song of the encore was Quiet Please and it gave me shivers again. It was the same song that brought tears to my eyes at the Wycombe show and I must admit it was the first time I'd heard this song!
And the last song was 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' which I would probably consider as my most favourite song because I believe it was the first song I saw on The One And Only (I might be wrong but it was definitely the one I can remember). I am such a newbie, but I am loving this music! And I am ever so grateful for Katy and her band for giving me the best performances I have seen in my life so far. I have been to so many concerts, very different genres as well, but I can't remember being more affected before.
And I did manage to get my photo taken with Katy. Aaaaaaaaahhhh

The best part is knowing that Katy intends to tour again in the Spring.
I've asked her to come to Manchester...and I think she's considering it.

Hi Trek - reply sent
I forgot to mention that there were 4 people who got flowers for Katy on Saturday. She could barely hold them walking off stage which looked so great.
Oh yes and another thing. After I said thank you for the photo with Katy, she said to me : "See you next year."
I replied: "See you next weekend." She laughed with all the other people waiting for her |

Katy at Dorking........what to say? How this woman has kept it going on this oh so busy tour, and to continue to give such superb performances defies logic. I think she should patent something or other . She said she feels good - she looks good, no question.
She's gorgeous, Andy's gorgeous, the other boys and gals ain't bad either, and those songs WOW! (no she didn't sing Kylie )...to repeat myself here, just what can a girl say?
She's off to Berlin after the tour, then home for a well deserved rest. Apparently she did appear on Children in Need but on one of the regional stations rather than appearing as part of the national coverage. Andy mentioned Coventry.......not sure what the BBC region is that covers that?
I think a couple of photos will be forthcoming - need to sort out the old camera. Watch this space .
So sorry, Speedbird, that I didn't manage to catch up with you - it dawned on me when I arrived there that I had forgotten to touch base with you earlier in the week to find out where you were sitting. Many apologies for that as it would have been lovely to have had a chat.

Hi Janie! Me too, I was sorry to have missed you.
Another fantastic concert . And it is amazing indeed how she kept it going and never ever, for half a second looked tired. And she never stopped smiling
I thought the venue gave them a bit of a hard time but they looked so professional and even managed to laugh about it. Oh and I loved the shoes bit :) That was so funny
I got to talk to her after the show and she recognized me from Peterborough. Aaaaaaw, me was so happy She asked me if I would come back again this tour. Guess what Poor poor hubby

Would you care to explain about the venue giving Katy a hard time and also the shoes as I haven't a clue what you mean! |

Sorry, I didn't mean to just drop hints I was going to explain.
The venue sometimes seemed to have problems with the amplification. During 'Over The Rainbow' with Al on the acoustic guitar, one of the channels just went dead half way through the song. It meant that you could only hear the music from the speakers on the left hand side of the stage. I thought it was my ears that went funny but then I realized what it was. It came back after 2 minutes or something though.
Then when Al sang '24 Hours from Tulsa', suddenly you heard a laughter coming from the speakers. You could see Andy look up in terror wondering what that was. And then for the whole song, you heard people chatting! Al put his arms in the air as to show 'what is going on' but they just weren't going to click. I felt sorry for the guys on stage but they stayed cool.
Also, they spotlight just couldn't keep still on the person it was meant to be aimed at.
Hats of to the guys (and girls! ) they were so professional. They just kept going as normal as if nothing was happening. And you could see absolutely nothing on Katy's face.
As for the shoes, aaah Katy called it a 'wardrobe malfunction' When she came back on stage after the final change of clothes, she didn't have any shoes on. It appeared that she couldn't find her shoes. She was so funny with it It will be one of my most favourite moments from these concerts Halfway through the song, Julie sneaked off the stage, obviously, to try and find Katy's shoes. She came back just seconds before the song finished and told Katy that she couldn't find them anywhere. Then suddenly, you could see this pair of shoes... someone holding them from behind the curtains. It was so funny how some of us pointed towards them. Then Katy quickly got them on saying 'I don't feel dressed without my shoes' and started singing the new song. Loved it loved it loved it. |
