Eddy Arnold who had been a Country Music superstar for some 20 years when he scored the smash Pop hit Make the World Go Away (US:no#6; UK:no#8) in 1965-6 died early this morning (Thursday): he would have turned 90 May 15.

I recognise the name, Richard, but thats about it.

I though that Jim Reeves had the hit with the lovely 'Make The World Go Away' here in the UK.

I think the 'hit' by Jim Reeves your thinking about was 'Welcome to my world'?
Eddy Arnold DID have a hit in the UK with 'Make the world go away' - reaching number 8 in February 66. He spent a total of 17 weeks on the chart.
It was his only top ten hit, although 2 more made the top 50 -'I want to go with you' (46 in June 66) and 'If you were mine Mary (49 in July 66).
He had a lovely 'rich' voice, but was a 'lil bit too country' for most British tastes at the time.

The last record I heard by Eddy was a duet with Leann Rimes, R.I.P Eddy.
