To cheer myself up from the awful rain I put on Dusty's Classics & Collectables today and was reminded once more just how great a singer Dusty was.
When you hear her sing songs like Give Me Time & I Will Come To You (to name but two) you realise just what difficult songs Dusty chose and they really stretched her vocal chords, I'm amazed at some of the notes she reached - she truly was amazing!
Now I have a question, did anyone ever see Dusty sing "Give Me Time" either on stage or tv? I did see her perform "I Will Come To You" but It wasn't live.

I was wondering the same thing about "Give Me Time". And I was wondering how long it took her to record that song because her voice is so clear throughout, although I can't imagine it was done all at once without killing the vocal cords.

I'm almost but not quite, sure, that around the time of Dusty's induction to the UK Hall Of Fame, there was a radio programme in which 'someone' had a recording of Dusty singing this song without the orchestration.
Can anyone else shed some light on this?
I think I have the right song, but am happy to be corrected.

Carole, I've heard it too, courtesy of Janie when she did the talking mod thing. It's certainly worth a listen, as the instrumentation is stripped away.

Here it is.....I've downloaded the entire programme. As Carole said it was a radio programme the BBC broadcast around the time of Dusty's induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame (November 2006). The programme was entitled 'Dusty In Memphis'.
The download is in WMA format and is 40mb approx and one hours listening. However, the 'Give Me Time' feature starts nigh on 17 mins in - the whole programme is well worth a listen though

Try it again Clare - for some obscure reason when I copied and pasted the link, a space appeared where none had existed before! I've closed the gap and tested the link, so IF that was the problem you had, I hope I've sorted it. Many apologies.

Dear Janie,
Someone very kind and good is sending this to me on CD but I couldn't resist listening to this. Thanks so much. I learnt that Dusty met Carol King in the Brill Building like I'd always thought and and I also learned how terribly difficult that album was for Dusty, how proud she was of it, and, how very disappointed she was that it didn't sell. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Do you mind if I share this on another Dusty site? I would be happy to give you a credit.

No problem M, although I wouldn't object if you adopted the same approach as was adopted a while back whereby our DSN members were 'directed' to that other site. Maybe you might feel it appropriate to direct their members to the DSN?
