This thread is for shock musical revelations that we only recently found out.

To my Shame, I just found out that Barry Manilow wrote 'I Am Your Child.'....

I recently downloaded a tune by Booker T, called Soulful Strut. Never did I think it would turn out to be OUR S.S.!

Back in 1969 I bought a Peter Nero album which included Soulful Strut.

At the recording of Dusty's last ever tv show of her final series I was amazed when her band struck up the opening bars of Soulful Strut - it was Dusty's new single Am I The Same Girl !

When I was looking for Dinah Washingtons September In The Rain vid...

I found that The Silver Beatles, later known as The Beatles, sang that very song at their auditions with Decca.

I now know why they didn't pass the audition and ended up recording for Parlophone.

A couple of years ago I was in the mall and they played the Supreme's version of the song, I completely forget they did it too. Give me Dusty's version any day!

Well as Dusty never recorded September In The Rain, I take it Marty means Am I The Same Girl. Never knew The Supremes recorded that!

The Supremes didn't record Am I the Same Girl - the version one would likely hear as background music in a North American mall would be the Swing Out Sister version from '92 which was actually a no#1 Adult Contemporary hit.

The Swing Out Sister version was good.

The guy from Swing Out Sister used to live near me..In fact I think his parents still do.

Sadly, that is my only claim to fame.

Surely when you walked the Pennine Way in slingbacks with your knickers on your head deserves a mention?

I'd forgotten about Swing Out Sister's version, wonder why Marty thought it was The Supremes.

While we're on the subject of this song let's give Barbara Acklin a mention!!!

Maybe I'm having one of my senior moments but I could have sworn it was Soulful Strut/Am I The Same Girl and I am aware of the Swing Out Sisters version as well.

The other song I can think of is I'm Gonna Make You Love Me. Yes Richard I know it was a hit by Madeline Bell, but Dusty does sing on it.

Heck, she sang the song herself with someone else, I forget who, on TV!

And is it just me, or does anyone remember, in the '80s, PBS using some version of I Am Your Child for a promo? I vaguely remember the song and swear I heard it against a series of clips from kids' shows.

I wouldn't jump down your throat anyway Marty - I can see how a casual listen to Swing Out Sister singing Am I the Same Girlcould think it was the Supremes; if in fact the track was I'm Gonna Make You Love Me that's perfectly okay!

Bill Withers has the distinction of coming second in 'The Holding the Longest Note In a Song' Category.

Oh yes, indeedy...It seems that Bill held the note for around 18seconds...The Song was 'Lovely Day'....

Now, I guess you are wondering(but maybe not)who came first,in this category.

Well, it was Morton Hackett from the defunct AHA who holds the record...the note was held for nigh on twenty second.. Trouble is, I aint never heard of the song... and can't remember the title.

Can you think of any Singer/ songs with Looooooooooooooong notes?..
