Feeling a little fragile this morning folks    Spent most of yesterday travelling to and from Fairborne in Wales- the fact that I didn't have to drive meant that a nice few glasses of wine could be enjoyed...need I say more?

Did you get buzzed at the wedding Emma? Ya'll need to come to a redneck wedding, lol, the receptions are a blast! We have this show here called My Big Redneck Wedding & it's hosted by Tom Arnold. Anyway, it's a show about southerners who have really unique (and by "unique" I mean white trash) weddings. One groom donned a camo tuxedo & the bride donned a camo dress. One episode showed the wedding party making "beer-cicles", lol, they poured beer in ice trays & put them in the freezer. I got an idea from that one now, I'm doing that at my next party.

Ya'll, it is offically GUMBO WEATHER!!!! Now gumbo weather, for those who don't know my culture that well, is the first cool snap of weather during the fall season. It's awful chilly in the mornings now & it's so refreshing. Anyway, when that first cold snap gets here we make a huge freakin' pot of gumbo. We put chicken, pork, shrimp, okra, onions, chicken hearts/gizzards, and every freakin' thing else but the kitchen sink! Lol, we coonasses, we put every spice & condiment that we can find in the house (we've even called the neighbors to borrow some of theirs) & slap it in the cauldron. Yes, we literally use actual big black cauldrons to cook the gumbo. We also use wooden paddles that look like boat oars to stir it. It's great.
I can't wait for it to get cold ya'll. It's getting closer to October & that's when I discovered Dusty *Bambi grins & goes off into a dream sequence*. I'm getting all nostalgic & it's only been a year. Still, this past year has meant the world to me, I can't help but to feel nostalgic.
Lol, I can't wait to see what we all post for our Christmas wish list this year! Ya'll remember what Gill, Bev & me kept wishing for last year? I never did get my wishes :(
How 'bout you Gillybean? Did you get yours?

LOL! Well, Gill, Bev, & I kept posting these pix of all the women we wanted Santa to deliver to us & leave under our Christmas trees! There were some GREAT choices too! The thread's around here somewhere, you might have to do some exstensive digging though!

LoL... I remember that well.... If Santa had delivered my choice I would have been so frustrated being laid up with fractured ribs ,,, 2009 has been a fab year & I have certainly made up for the lost weeks in bed with my injuries. The DSN brought me together with many and I'm hoping to link with Darian and Janmar in a few days time on my travels to the big apple..
I have much to thank our Dusty for.. she's playing cupid I'm sure!!!

Hey, I feel you on that Gill! Dusty has also played more than Cupid, too, she brought alot of friends together in the past year. Strong, beautiful friendships that you know are going to last a lifetime. Dusty was always bringing people together in her time on this earth (like the South Africa incident!) & not much has changed within the last 10 years of her passing either. She's still bringing folks together in her name. We wouldn't all be such good "mates" had it not been for the "Dusty Springfield Network", right?
But I agree whole-heartedly about our girl playing matchmaker! Lol, there have been some very beautiful love affairs born because of all of our love for Dusty just in the short year I've been a member on here. I know of several myself! Just makes me smile that our girl can still manage to generate such love (platonic or not) even though she's been gone for so long.
Gill, lol, I had so much fun posting on that Christmas wish list with you & Bev! I had alot of laughs due to that topic/thread. You do know that we have to, of course, keep the tradition going, don't you? Lol, you better get crackin' on who your wishing for this year! I'm still sticking with Angelina Jolie, Pink, & Gretchen Wilson, but I'll probably add some more though :)!!!
LOL, remember Emma's reaction to our "wishes"? She was all like "glory be!" & put the little shocked smilie face. That made me laugh.
I'm glad you got over your injuries Gillybean, that really sucked when you told us everything, I felt so bad for you! Have you gotten back to your full form, or do you still have trouble with any of the injuries? I mean, does it still hurt you every now & then, or what? I'm not trying to be nosey or get all up in your kool-aid darlin', I'm just kinda worried you might still be in pain. I hope you're not, I hope you feel fan-tabulous!

Omg I laughed so hard at that thread that it took an age form my poor fractured ribs to heal.. I'm very much on the mend thank you ... but now and again my body tells me to take things easy & I have to listen.
Well I was lucky with the car Emma I had a brand new car and I had the like for like on the policy so I just got another one given. Peugeot are loving me LOL...
I'm going to have to watch myself with the Christmas list this year .. I don't want to get my hands slapped...
Talking about Dusty playing cupid... heres a question for ya'll ... Has anyone ever met on DSN and got married??

Awm I feel for you Emma! You think it's over and then, nup. I thought I had a break but now I'm spending most days studying. The work really does never seem to end.

I just got back from seeing Julie and Julia (it only just opened here) I LOVED it, my best friend HATED it. I thought it was rather sweet and funny...she didn't. I'll probably go see it again. It really highlighted Julia Child to me, I remember watching repeats of her show with my Nonna when I was little...really should read her autobiography I suppose.
