I was typing an essay on WWII this morning, I was kinda bored and I was humming Island of Dreams under my breath when I looked up at my screen and realised for the last 4 lines all I had done was re-write the one line I had going around in my head!
I quickly backspaced before anyone could see and ask how all of a sudden I had gone from writing about the effects of the blitz on british moral to birds flying overhead to the island of dreams.....I had to have a little giggle to myself!  |

Lol, are you a bit of a day dreamer, Al? Don't feel bad, I'm constantly in the clouds. I have always been a dreamer, but ever since discovering The Dust, it has become much more worse. Lol, I think I'm developing a serious condition. The woman makes it damn near impossible to concentrate!
For me, at the moment, it's Close My Eye & Count To Ten, Go Easy On Me, and Poor Way Fairing Stranger...

I've been stuck on Don't You Know ever since my Emmanemma burned those 3 albums for me! I LOVE THAT FREAKIN SONG!!! That song right there proves without a doubt that Dusty could wail! That woman had one hell of a voice, which we all already knew, of course, but she just lets it all hang out on that one! I couldn't believe the power behind her voice......she seriously should've done more like that!

Can't Hear You No More, from Ev'rything's Coming Up Dusty! Love it...but the performance with the Vandellas was the best!

I've been playing one of my own Dusty compilation CD's in the car recently (over and over of course  )....one of the songs has just got so stuck in my head its driving me to distraction, much as I love it. It's 'You Don't Own Me'. I've even woken up in themiddle of thenight with it going through my head. Crikey    .

I've always had such a special spot in my heart for Dusty's "You Are The Storm", but these days it's taking on a very special meaning. Seeing as how I can completely & totally relate to what she's singing about...

Yeah, it's one powerful song, ain't it? I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Beautiful lyrics & a very sweet melody, I adore it. It really gets next to me because, like I'd said, I can hear so many people singing that song to me. I have always (& very often) compared my life & emotions as "a storm". So it hits the nail on the head, it really struck a nerve with me. Not to mention the fact that I know several people that I either fell in love with or became extremely close to were very much "a storm" themselves.

You know, I just don't care for the song Mockingbird. Don't know why, it just never hit my ear the right way, I think it sounds too monotone for our girl to be singing. Dusty had such an amazing voice & increadible range, man, that song just does not do her justice. The only time I liked that song is when I saw the clip of her duet with Jimi Hendrix. Jimi brought a really funky edge to it, he added what that song sorely needed & was missing......RYTHYM!!!
I think the Dusty song that's stuck with me for a good while now is Blind Sheep. LOVE IT! "Blind sheep/lead'em to tha slaughtah/those blind sheep/mothers hide yo daughtahs"!!!
