Come on then you lot - I know we've got another thread going somewhere but I thought I'd start this one ........remind me, who is going to DD this year?
I'm going as per usual and will, on the Monday (day after DD), be off to Henley to visit the marker and lay some flowers. Would love to meet up with as many of you as possible.
Also, if you are up in the London/Ealing area, do any of you have any particular plans for that weekend? In previous years we've normally managed the odd get together.

Just in case you are not keeping an eye on Simon's site, please note that Tamsin Carroll who played Dusty in the multi award-winning Dusty - The Original Pop Diva, will be singing on the day!
Simon has advised that due to other commitments she will be singing early at 12.30 (doors open 12.00).
I'm very excited at the prospect of seeing her 'live'.
For more details please refer to Simon's site as there are some interesting additions to other years' programmes including a Motown tribute.

H, let Simon know of your predicament - it may well be that there will be people who can't go and tickets will therefore become available. Also of course you could call on that neighbour of yours to see if she could help .

Omg ya'll! The closer it gets to D-Day, the more I want to cry because I know I won't be there! Please, as a huge favor to me & everyone else who won't get the "golden ticket" to get in there, will someone take a massive amount of pix for us to envy & be jealous over?!
ONE DAY MAN.....one day I will get to be there! I have actually already laid down some plans with Holly to save up the money to go one year, it may be a few years before we actually get there, but, still, the date has been made. I only wish by some small miracle that it was this year! I would've meant ALOT to be able to've been there on the 10th anniversary of her passing....

Oh Janie, I am gutted I am g-u-t-t-e-d! Even you told me in Henley to get my ticket before it was too late. I don't think I would let Simon know because he hasn't got a clue who am I and I'm sure there are other people out there too......
actually, I am so upset that I might as well e-mail him to see if he has any booking cancellations. Just in case......
I think I'll leave my neighbour alone
I am such a plonker, aaaaaaaaaarrrrgh. |

I've had a quick reply from Simon to say he has put me on the ever growing waiting list.
My colleague has just played 'Son of a Preacher Man' on her computer (youtube) to cheer me up. |

Ok, folks....
All of ya "Luck Brits" and such... I am soooo envious that you're that much closer to be able to attend Dusty Day!!
I've made it a promise to myself that one day... I'll get there to experience it, too!!
(And, yes, Bambi...We WILL get there...Don't you worry, Darlin'!!)
For those of you whom are lucky enough to attend, please do take a few pics to share if ya can.... (and if you don't mind!!) It would be soooo much appreciated, and for the rest of us...the "Next Best Thing" to actually being there!! (although nothing would compare to the actual "experience" of being there, in itself!!)
In the meantime, I have decided to celebrate the day in Dusty's honour, myself (in my own way).... I'm taking a holiday on the 16th April (Dusty's B-day)!
As a matter of fact.... I have already discussed this idea w/ Bambi...
How about working towards an "OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL DUSTY DAY"??
It should be an International Holiday!!
It's the very least that we could do for a woman that had given us soooo much (and continues to)!!
Ok, I do realise the challenge of accomplishing the task of making this "Official".... However, nothing is impossible!!
And, just like Dusty herself used to say..... "I know it can be done...I've heard it done before!!"
Well....the metaphor here is the fact that although I can't think of another artist whom has a dedicated day in their honour, we sure as hell have other national and international holidays!!
Ok...It may be a bit off the wall... But, all the MORE reason to push for it, and make it happen!!
If there is ONE person whom DESERVES it, it is certainly DUSTY!!
Ok...Now ya'll know how nuts I REALLY am!! LOL
Anyway, just an idea that I had, and I figured that the DSN would be the perfect place to "put it out there" and share it.... for whatever it's worth!!
If any of you others have any feedback or ideas on this concept, please do let me know....
It would just be totally FAB to have an Official International Dusty Day!!

Looking forward to seeing the photos already....sounds a wonderful event and how refreshing to know it is sold out in as much as it will be a really super day, with great tributes happening throughout the day.....thank you for all those organising this momentus occasion....definitely one to get the press involved maybe. Has anyone invited them to get some coverage in the local/national papers.....it is an event which should be more widely recognised, given the content and celebration of such a fantastic singer.
