That's such a shame Chris - I was looking forward to seeing you again. I'm sure there will be plenty of photos though - we'll get you in the mood somehow .
Maybe we might meet at a Katy concert later in the year?

Wow, I seem to be the first one back. I hope all the others had a safe journey home and I can't wait to read your reviews.
It was my first Dusty Day and I didn't have a clue what to expect. I went on my own and as it turned out, it didn't matter at all. Just want to say a big thank you to Janie, Sandy and Patrick, you are one wonderful bunch of people Sorry about the pints I knocked over
But even when I was standing on my own, taking in the atmosphere and just enjoying my drink, people came up to me to talk. I thought that was amazing. I loved every minute of the afternoon/evening and I will definitely be back next year.
The concerts were fantastic, and I really can't find a word to describe how superb the performances were. I never realised how quickly the day went, until it was already 7:30. I hadn't eaten anything since 9am! The weather was wonderful, so kind to us! You could soak up the sun in the garden while having a chat with Madeline Bell. WHOA!
The auction was pretty cool. There was a professional auctioner doing it so it was a great experience. I wasn't planning to get anything as I thought it would be way out of my budget but I did bid on a picture... just for the hell of it. Then I got such a great thrill out of it that I just could not help but try and get something pretty. And I did!!!! I had just told myself 'that's it, no more, you can't afford it' and the next thing I knew, it was mine. I was so proud and I loved the cheering I got from everybody. I will never forget that moment. I think Janie and Sandy were quite proud of me, hahaha
I have some photos to show, the others will write a more comprehensive review later.
Simon put on a great day, everything seemed so smoothly run and I must mention those lovely pictures on the wall. You could have spent a day just looking at them A big thank you for Simon for my ticket. I had a wonderful wonderful time

Now I can't remember if Janie or Sandy took this pic, I think it was Sandy, thanks

PS: The photos are very noisy, so I am a bit disappointed with the camera. I don't know if it was better if I did or did not use the flash... So apologies for the quality. |

Not long back from the weekend - went to Henley today..oops I mean yesterday now .....will update all when I have had some sleep and had the photos sorted for me (yet again my camera fell short of the mark so I am relying on input from elsewhere ). We met with Bev but unfortunately by a matter of minutes it seems, we missed Patrick and his wife .
H (our Speedbird ), your poster looks great - I do so hope your husband loved it as much as we all did ....if not, I guess we are in a whole lot of trouble ?
Great photos btw......thank you for them.
It was a pleasure to see you and so many of other familiar faces - Gill, I came to find you, having heard from Bev she had been talking to you, but you had gone! So sorry for that, time ran away with me I guess, but I do so hope you enjoyed yourself.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's experience of the weekend - I'll write more tomorrow (I hope!) but just want to say it was a wonderful weekend. Before I try to get some sleep though, I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to Simon and his team for organising such a wonderful day. Also of course I would like to take the opportunity of wishing Simon a brilliant time over the next few weeks with the James Last team in Germany. Good luck S!

OMG, Speedbird, the pix are so fantastic!!! Thank you so much for posting them! It looks like the festivities were so much fun, I only wish that I could've been there to share my love for Dusty with all of the other Dusty fanatics!
NICE guitar, btw, it's such a beautiful color...

Great pictures! Just feeling a bit green! Looks like Simon and Katy had a great time singing together. She personally told me that last year she was so nervous to be actually singing with DUSTY'S back up singers.
I would have loved to have seen Tamsin Carol sing.
Can someone please tell me who is the other man on stage with Simon?

I can't recall the chap's name Marty but he is an auctioneer (albeit property ) by profession! He did well .
I'm having some photos e-mailed to me later today for posting so apologies all, for the delay - however, Speedbird has given a wonderful taster.......maybe others will post in the meantime?

I'm not long back from the Capital... had a brilliant weekend, the weather was unbelievable...
I arrived at Dusty Day around 1:30 ~ 1:45 ish,, but I ordered food sat outside in the sunshine and had lunch... so I missed anything that went on prior to 2:45 ~ 3pm.. I didn't catch a great deal of the event, I couldn't get into the main room where everything was taking place.. however I did stay and listen to Madeline from the bar area, she has such a wonderful voice and for me she was the best... Everyone was ever so friendly, although I didn't stay long enough to catch peoples names & wouldn't have remembered.. I was buying glasses of wine at £4:50 a shot.. half a bottle in a glass! Speedbird... you were actually stood right behind me.. it may have been when the auction was taking place.. I'm not so sure .. I remember you from your photo but I wouldn't have known who you were, Im sorry! I caught Bev on my way out.... Bev I told you Everton would win!! I couldn't get anywhere near to take any photos for you, a little disappointing I know but I hate crowded places. I didn't know what to expected but I was told by people (I spoke to) that the day wasn't as good as it had been in previous years. For such a huge British top female artist of her time and a 10 year anniversary this year I was expecting much more. Gill x

Gill I heard the opposite, I heard it had the best entertainment yet. Can't say as I wasn't there and only attended one Dusty Day (a year ago) which I thought was wonderful. My disappointment was that I was robbed the day before in my hotel (sorry for mentioning it again). I had to borrow money from a dear friend to get home, so I couldn't bid on anything, but I had a great day!
I have to say if you hate crowds it can be a bit of a problem. I grew up in New York and learned at an early age to have your own space in a crowd. If you don't like you can go **** yourself, (a line from Jersey Boys). :)) Hope that wasn't offensive, just being a New Yorker, but it works in any big city, LOL!
