Was it my imagination or does anyone else think Whitney was on something last night?

She seemed to rely heavily on the backing singers and did not seem to do much singing herself, all she seemed to do was move around the stage. Also when she was speaking at the end I thought her eyes looked strange, I haven't seen her for years on British tv but I remember the last time I did see her was on Terry Wogan's show and she was really nice and natural - however look at the lifestyle she's led since then!

Yes - she was on the stage of the X-Factor!

Actually you're quite right - she did look a bit strange up there. She looked much better the previous night when she was giving the contestants 'advice'.

Seems like she nearly lost the top part of her gown while performing.

Whitney did not get a good review in some of today's newspapers, plus the fact a strap on her dress either burst or came loose, also when they spoke to her at the end of her song she did not seem to be firing on all cylinders and took awhile to answer - then when they mentioned her new album she said "Album" as if she didn't know what they meant.

Here is the youtube clip........I notice that commenting on it has been disabled .

I say 'good on her' for attempting a comeback, I hope it works out for her . Sad to say there were a few Dusty video clips we've seen on youtube and the like where it looked as if she was not exactly on tea or diet coke ..............good luck Whitney .

Janie what do you mean commenting on it has been disabled?

The Dusty clips you mention, can you say which songs you mean? I thought she didn't look her usual bright self when she performed the song Rain but knowing Dusty wore lots of eye make-up I put it down to the fact she maybe had some new eye make up on.

Where you can usually make a comment on a clip Karl, it says that the facility has been disabled - I assume it means that no further comments are being allowed so I can but guess on what might or might not have been commented on .

I'd have to remind myself of the Dusty songs but the one that does spring to mind is 'Midnight' on, I think it was a Dutch show in the late seventies era or thereabouts.........

We all know Dusty had her problems but I don't think she ever performed under the influence of "anything".
In fact she successfully sued Bobby Davro for implying as much.

Well I hope she didn't Ray certainly not the worse for drink anyway as Davro implied. I was so glad I never saw that skit as I would have hit the roof.

However sometimes Dusty seemed a bit out sorts, as in The Hippodrome (Stringfellow) show. But to reply to Janie I thought she was brilliant on the Dutch tv show when she opened with At Midnight - she was full of energy on that show. I also wish I could see a decent clip of a show (abroad) where she did Reputation dressed very casually with trainers on her feet and she bounced all over the patio as it was outdoors.

Just playing devil's advacate here, do you suppose everyone is being a bit hard on Whitney? Afterall, there are some similarities between the two. I guess only time will tell if Whitney does actually pull herself back together like Dusty did. Don't get me wrong I am not exactly putting Whitney in the same league as Dusty, but again for me Dusty is ALWAYS be in a league of her own.

No egg throwing please, merely playing the part of a "Devil's advacate".
