The statue is Perseus holding the head of the Gorgon Medusa, Sara. He had to get the head to save Andromeda.
Some other good statues in Florence including Michaelangelo's David,and the Rape of the Sabina Women which was carved from one piece of marble.
I have more pics if anyone wants to see them?
The tower has only been opened again fairly recently Mark as it was unsafe for a number of years. It has now been stabilised with weights to stop it from leaning further.
Pisa is well worth visiting as the area all around the tower is very interesting.

Was the leaning tower of Pisa, built leaning....or did the earth move at one time?

It was built straight but on sandy foundations.

There is a cathedral next to the tower and they used to build the bell towers at the side instead of above the church.
I didn't climb to the top as we had been walking around and there were 250 odd steps!!
