Joe Brown was sitting in on SOTS this morning and played SOAPM, he was full of praise for Dusty.

Andrew Lloyd Webber this morning chose 'O HOLY CHILD' as one of hot 'tracks of my years' on the Ken Bruce show this morning. He added he thought Dusty was one of the GREATEST singers of all time ("We all love Dusty"). He then went on to say he wished he and Tim Rice had contacted Dusty to sing in 'Jesus Christ Superstar'...but they thought she was TOO BIG A STAR to accept! I wonder what would have happened if they had?

I think Dusty would have made a fine Grizabella in CATS. Imagine her singing "MEMORY"!!

I TOTALLY agree Tere!....
Now, that would have been absolutely up her alley ...
I believe she was a BIG Fan of 'Cats the musical' ...
She saw it loads of times.
I wonder if she THOUGHT she could've played that part?...

You've beaten me to it Brian. I was haring along a country lane when I heard that on the radio and made a mental note to do the post. It made me think though of that daft comment Andrew Lloyd Webber said on 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' I can't remember which of the girls sang 'Son Of A Preacher Man' but he said that she'd out Dustied, Dusty!! Didn't I shout at the telly. He might have all those millions and write some incredible material but that doesn't seem to stop him being a right xlonker every now and again!
BTW I wonder how the notion of a lesbian playing Mary Magdelene would have gone down?

I can't report any 'appearances' of Dusty on the airwaves except for Prime Suspect. I was buying CD's recently and the young guy behind the counter told me his mother and sisters always play Dusty in the car, nothing else. jane x |

I was watching the film 'Imagine You And Me' today (a gift from a kindly soul) and who should be singing 'The Look of Love'? on the soundtrack? You've guessed it!

CHRISTMAS EVE - 9.15am, and Ronan Keating on Radio 2 plays WHIDTDT with The Pet Shop Boys. He 'added' it's a bit scary to think it's nearly 20 YEARS OLD!....it doesn't seem like it does it?

Gary Lightbody (from some group or other!), chose 'Don't forget about me' as his 'tracks of my years' segment on this mornings Ken Bruce show. Rarely heard on radio.

I CAN'T pretend that I knew this before looking on Google, Brian...
Gary Lightbody is the lead singer with the popular band 'Snow Patrol'.
Co-incidentally, 'Snow Patrol' were the LAST act to EVER appear on TOTP, and Dusty was the FIRST....

This is not exactly a song sighting but a Dusty sighting on Oz Tv yet again. Just flicking through the channels and noticed there's a double dose of Dusty on our Ovation channel tonight at 8.30. Reflections followed by the RAH concert. Haven't seen the Reflections DVD on TV as yet so it'll be interesting to see if they also show the 2 additional clips that were bonuses on the Oz Reflections DVD. Stay tuned.
