Mainly up-tempo numbers then, T. ---------------------------------- At the moment I'm listening to:
...Beautiful Soul Album...'I Am Your Child'...
Memories of Simon singing this on Dusty Day...
That was nearly five months ago...

'Calling You' sung by Jevetta Steele from the movie Bagdad Cafe.
I've always loved this but recently found George Michael's version. Think it's my latest obsession. Then there is the version by Bob Telson who wrote the piece and a 'cool' rendition by A:xus, whoever they may be, with Naomi Nsombi. Others anyone?
Btw the movie was added to a list of memorable chick flicks on radio the other day.

Cliff's new boxed set.
It's great how Cliff has progressed over the years and although I like many of his more modern records his early records take some beating for their sound with The Shadows.
I think it's wonderful that Cliff has lasted so long and at 68 years old his latest single went into the charts at number 3. How I wish a certain gorgeous blonde was still here to do such things! |

KITES by Simon Dupree and the Big Sound - This one from 1967 only got to Number 9 in the UK charts - it deserved Number One - a brilliant production.

'The many moods of Alton Ellis' - a little reggae for a change. He was one of the 'original' blue-beat stars from Jamaica in the sixties - wonderful voice.

I am listening to both of Katy's cd's bought at her concert on Sunday, her latest Dusty cd is very good and at times her phrasing is so like Dusty - shame Some Of Your Lovin' is not included as she sang that so well on Sunday.
Now I am listening to her previous cd Moments Of Pleasure and it's really good too, she does a brilliant version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Katy also had several different voices, at the moment she's singing Our Mutual Friend and her voice sounds deeper but it's a very good and unusual song and I like it a lot.
Tonight I was sorely tempted to drive over to Dunfermline to see Katy again but had too much to do it would have been a rush, also I was wary of being caught in traffic before the bridge and being late. I sent her an email anyway. |

I 've been listening to Dusty's Gold album in the car earlier- the volume and bass was I think a wee bit too high, as you could feel the windows vibrating! , but it sure sounded great- ya should have seen me bopping in my seat .
