I like Lulu - about 90% of the time! Now, Rhino Records have just issued a double cd of her recordings for the Atco/Atlantic label from 1969-1972. It's a really nice 'package' containing 39 tracks in all. It's NOT 'Dusty in Memphis' by any stretch, but it IS good (most probably her best recording period?)...and it contains what is most certainly her GREATEST recording 'Oh me oh my (I'm a fool for you baby)'. Worth a look.

I've had this ordered for awhile but now it's on the way as it's just released. I did see it in HMV a few days ago, can't wait to hear it as many of the tracks I've had on vinyl for years. |

I've been looking this up on Amazon and the track listing is impressive--I feel a Christmas present coming on.

| Just been listening to some sound clips online and BJ Thomas (who duetted with Dusty on As Long As We Got Each Other) also does a good over version of Oh Me Oh My on a cd currently available. |

Just got my copy of Lulu's Atco sessions however has anyone noticed the distortion almost at the start of the last track on disc 2 which is Povera Me (Oh Me Oh My). I'm wondering if the track has been lifted from a scratchy 45 copy as perhaps the master has been lost - usually the sleeve notes give that kind of information but not this time it seems. |

Now if they had taken the time to print on the inlay that it HAD been taken from a 45 of dubious condition people would realise that, now they may have people taking it back saying it's faulty!
I expect more from Rhino as their products are normally excellent. |

Lulu's version of "Oh Me Oh My" wins out for me. The two albums that make up the first CD in the Atco are Lulu's best work in my opinion.
It's a shame about the Italian version of "Oh Me Oh My"...I wonder if it is a dub from a 45 or the original master has deteriorated?? I'd say it's the original master, as I'm sure there must be much clearer copies of the origianl 45 available that Rhino could have dubbed.
