Look what I went and found..
The original IHATWMMLN.
... But I cannot say "The Best"... Cos In my opinion Dusty's version is SOOOOOO much better.
What do you think?

It IS the song...a fabulous track which has been recorded by many over the years. I got to know it first by Mitty, having purchased the original single on Pye International, then being AMAZED by Dusty's performance (I still am) on ECUD. I too vote for Dusty as the best version BUT Mitty comes a very close 2nd, followed by Inez Foxx and Linda Clifford who both turned out stunning versions.

Thanks for the response, Brian... I was well pleased when I found this..
I thought everyone would be deeee-lighted.
Obviously not.
By the way, did you notice that Mitty sang different lyrics to Dusty at one point?..
I even preferred Dusty's lyrics. Cxx |

Dusty and Ivor Raymonde copied the arrangement and production lock stock and barrel! Dusty herself said that she would swipe stuff from people like Mitty Collier. Hardly anybody would have heard the originals back then, so she was pretty safe. I think Dusty made a great job of this but it would have been nice if they had found their own take on this song, rather than copying the thing slavishly.
Anyway, that's just my pennyworth!!

Your pennyworth is always appreciated Jonathan... and yes, you are right of course, Dusty's arrangement is identical.
...But what a great arrangement it is!... P'raps they thought they'd copy it, rather than make an inferior attempt for the sake of it.
In other words, they played safe. ..
Its a great song, whatever.

Agreed Carole R. I think Dusty was just overawed at all this amazing stuff she heard in the States. She still made them all sound impressive and probably introduced a great many people to these fantastic singers. They should be grateful to her!

Enjoyed the Mitty Collier version, but I agree the Dusty version has the edge.
I agree that they played safe too and stuck to the original arrangement like glue--probably wise as it was good

I'm piping up late here, but I thought Dusty's recording on "Ev'rything's Coming Up Dusty" was the finest on her album and perhaps one of her finest vocal performances in her catalogue (that I know of ). But I think Mitty is pretty fantastic too. In other words, I love both recordings.
