I was reminded of the great man the other night, when at Vera Duckworths funeral they played 'I Can't Stop Loving You'..what a gorgeous song.

My fave songs from Ray are;

'You Don't Know Me.'.... Ahhhhh, so sad.

'Georgia On My Mind.'

and the uptempo, fun..'Hit The Road, Jack'

Any views?

I have a double cd of Ray's best and there are a lot of good song's included but You Don't Know Me is such a great song, imagine what Dusty would have done with that?

Talking of imagination, what about Dusty singing Imagine, that would have been wonderful too! I mean the John Lennon song, not the other song with the same title.

I also have a double CD of Ray's best- and play it alot.

Dusty sure would have made a great job of lots of his songs--imagine them singing together --wow that would have been terrific

Ray Charles - what a TRUE artist he was...a real musician.
There are so many great recordings, apart from the ones already mentioned - how about :-
What'd I say
Busted
Take these chains from my heart..

Going back to Hit the road Jack ..what an 'uplifting' record that was!...and don't you come back no 'more, no 'more, no 'more.
A 'duet' with Dusty would have been sublime

Brian.

Bye Bye Love is a great track, unique groovy piano playing, plus he had a country vibe mixed with R 'n' B

Dusty did sing one Ray Charles song "Don't You Know" - she never rocked out quite like this before or since.

I've always regarded Dusty as the female Ray Charles when it comes to vocals - superb in every genre.

I love all his great ballads, especially "Let's Go Get Stoned".

yes ruth you are correct.j foxx did meet ray charles-i believe the producers wanted ray to hear james's piano playing before starting to make the film - ray heard james play, ray sat there saying nothing and looking very stone faced, when james finished ray just smiled broadly and said - (along the lines of) 'yes hes the one, he can do it'--- sadly Ray charles never got to see/hear the finished film
