I'm not sure if anyone here knows who Jeff Healey is, but he's one of Canada's prized jazz and blues recording artists. He's known for playing his guitar in his lap because he lost his eyesight to cancer as an infant. Jeff passed away in Toronto yesterday from cancer at the age of 41.
I love Jeff Healey so was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing; I only have one of his albums but it's a firm favourite and is played often! He was due to appear on the UK late night music show hosted by Jools Holland in April which I was looking forward to... it's such a shame he won't be here now.
I do like the comment on his website : "Jeff's merely gone off to play at another venue."
Linda I'm so impressed with what I heard of Jeff that I have ordered two of his cd's - but tell me is iti the same Jeff Healey who also has some jazzy albums out or someone with the same name?
Jeff's soft rock sound is really good, wonder why he wasn't better known here?
is it the same Jeff Healey who also has some jazzy albums out or someone with the same name? Yes, Jeff's work covered soft rock, jazz and blues.
Jeff's soft rock sound is really good, wonder why he wasn't better known here? He didn't really care for touring, I suppose that might have something to do with it. At the height of his success he decided to keep himself at home.
If you want to see a wee bit more of Jeff then watch the movie 'Roadhouse' in which he starred with Patrick Swayze who, unfortunately, has also been diagnosed with cancer... not a good week for news!
