www.thevideobeat.com are selling, as a 'new release', British Beat Girls Volume2, which is a compilation of Marianne Faithful song videos, the same for Sandy Shaw, and a bonus feature on Patti Boyd, of George Harrison / Eric Clapton fame. But, the main article is the full 4th programme from Dusty's 1967 BBC TV series , which featured solo and duet performances with Tom Jones. I wonder what the visual quality is like?

Hi Alex.
The Video-Beat usually have good-quality footage in their DVD's, but I doubt if the quality is as good as the performances released on the BBC DVD recently. However, as the DVD omitted the guest-artist performances and their duets with Dusty from the DVD I'd say many people (especially Tom Jones' fans!) would be interested in seeing the episodes as they were originally broadcast.
There is also a bootleg doing the rounds which is often advertised as an episode of Dusty's '67 series, but it is in fact a composite programme made up of different performances from throughout the series broadcast some time during the 1990's by the BBC. It features Dusty's performances of "Nowhere To Run", "My Lagan Love", All I See is You", "Baby Baby Baby"(with Tom Jones), "Mathilde" (Scott Walker), "Show Me" (Tom Jones) and "Everybody Needs Somebody".

I didn't know of the bootleg.
The Dusty solo song list videobeat give matches those to be found on the BBC DVD, so there would seem to be an air of authenticity about their offering.
On the BBC disc, I think Paul Howes says foreign TV stations kept copies of the tapes they were sent by the BBC, and those tapes later became the source material for the 66-67 TV Shows DVD. I wonder if a further copy of Show 4 surfaced ? If so, could copies of the missing shows be floating around..? Probably not. For differences in quality, see the last show, and how grainy Sweet Lover No More is compared to Nowhere To Run. Different copies spliced together?

An Australian seller on ebay was selling copies of the show with Tom Jones featured a while back(before the release of the BBC DVD) . It was the entire show (including guest performances and original end-credits). I've heard that some of the copies of the episodes were retrieved from Australia (I could be wrong about this).
As all of the '67 series has been retrieved..the hunt is on(??) for the remaining shows from the first 1966 series and all of the ATV "It must Be Dusty" shows and the final BBC series "Decidedly Dusty"...well I can dream..can't I??

Question - how is it that an audio of the 1968 ITV series exists, as presented periodically on the DSN, but no pictures? Were the sound recordings copied, through a microphone, from TV broadcasts, or lifted directly from the now-lost tapes?
As for the BBC DVD, I am repeatedly uplifted and immensely impressed by her sheer ability to sing so powerfully and so melodiously. She reaches to and grasps all the convoluted highs and depths in those songs, and can do the broken-biscuits-and-honey voice just as well as the ROAR of the greasepaint...

Sorry Alex, I'm unable to unravel that mystery.
But, I also think that if the solo 'bits' of the BBC shows were available, how comes the 'Guest' parts weren't?..
Perhaps we have the BBC shows 'Dusty And Guests' still to come?..
I can't see why not.

Alex, the links that we make available on this site for TV programmes (we do btw have others as well as the ATV ones I'm currently featuring ) came from recordings made, as I understand it, by Cas directly from her TV at the time and later cleaned up by our late friend Fraser.
So many of the TV shows of that period were never retained by the TV companies and the tapes wiped. Much of that which has come to light was either retained by luck rather than design or indeed traced to overseas TV companies/sources which had bought them around the time of the original recording. Classic ain't it that our own BBC didn't keep 'their' progs and yet companies that bought 'em did! 
In terms of many of the duets.....It is my understanding from what Paul Howes has said in the past that is wasn't always (if ever ) possible to get the necessary clearance/permission/sign off (whatever the appropriate expression) to feature those artists that Dusty duetted with on her shows. Seems daft to us fans but of course when it comes to contracts and rights/royalties etc etc I suppose it is understandable if somewhat annoying for us  .
