Have I been sleeping for too long? Can't think how I missed this one - I bet somebody is going to tell me its on another thread! . I rather hope so, otherwise we've ALL missed it . Any ideas on tracks and singers?

....CORRECT...its on the Dusty Anniversary 09 thread

No bad thing for it to have its own thread though as we can add to it as and when we know who is going to be on the CD.

Alison Moyet has recorded I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself for this CD

According to Simon Bell's site Natasha Bedingfield and Beth Rowley are recording songs.

Daily Mail article states that Shirley Manson is also to record a song...she talked about Dusty on a VH1 music prog on Sky awhile ago saying that Dusty was a great singer with a wonderful vibrato in her voice which was so difficult to do.

Should I know who Shirley Manson is?...Cos I don't.

I hope that Duffy is on this album, I hope Corinne Bailey Rae is on the album, maybe even Sinead O' Connor.
Sharleen Spiteri would be another good choice.

I just hope that they put the right singer with the right song.

There was an album of Beatles songs out about ten years ago, put together by George Martin and'Stars' of the day did their own 'take' of Beatles songs.

It was horrrrrendous

Lets hope for the best.

Shirley Manson was in a band called Garbage back in the 90s. I used to like them.

Oh, I've heard of Garbage...

I've also heard of Marilyn Manson... but hopefully he won't be on there.

Alison's contribution will be I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself. I gather the lineup's set & I'm sure any top-tier stars like Duffy would have been announced - plus Duffy has so much on her plate that to clear space to participate in a Dusty tribute she'd have to really want to & Duffy seems to actually want to play down her Dusty comparisons. Corinne I agree would be a good choice (for one of Dusty's jazzier numbers): I'd also nominate Anastacia, Elkie Brooks, Sam Brown, Lulu, Sharleen Spiteri, Lisa Stansfield & (for I'll Try Anything) Kim Wilde - but not Sinead! Since Alison's doing IJDKWTDWM I just don't know who'll be covering any power ballads - obviously at least one (YDHTSYLM) has to be included!

I hope Swing Out Sister are on there. They won't be but they would do justice to one of Dusty's lighter numbers. I'm just hoping there'll be a few artists included that actually know and love Dusty's music.

I'm not a big fan of Joss Stone, but I guess she's a fairly obvious choice.

While Joss might be Dusty-friendly enough to make time to participate in the tribute I'm sure hers would be one of the names Simon would have been authorized to "drop" along with Alison, Natasha & Beth - I have a hunch there'll be a lot of "promising" vocalistes on the tribute (sorry if that sounds snide). If Universal has recruited veterans of somewhat faded profile I think Donna Lewis would be ideal for a Wishin' & Hopin' cover & Katrina Leskanich (of the Waves) has the perfect voice for I Only Want to Be With You or Stay Awhile: I can also imagine Jennifer Paige - she's a Yank but spends a lot of time in Europe - as part of a Dusty tribute.

To quote Katy she's had a rollercoaster of a year so it would be really nice if Universal included one of her tracks for the cd - I also think the icing on the cake would be a contribution from Madeline.

OK what about a tribute album with Madeline, Simon and Katy! Now that would be my Cuppa! Afraid I'm not a huge fan of Joss Stone or Duffy.

Yes, wouldn't it be nice if it was just singers that loved Dusty or had a real connection to her.

Beth Rowley will be a guest of Burt Bacharach's when he appears at the Roundhouse in London on October 22 in the opening concert of this year's BBC Electric Prom's series - perhaps this indicates that her contribution to the Dusty tribute will be a Bacharach-David number. BTW also vocalizing with Burt will be Jamie Cullum & a lady I wish were on the Dusty tribute Adele. Adele recently canceled a number of dates to deal with personal matters & altho she's easing back into performing it's still highly unlikely she'll be announced for the Dusty tribute.

Beth Rowley's number with Burt Bacharach on the Electric Night of the Proms was Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa - I'd be very surprised if that's a tip-off to Beth's contribution to the tribute as the song's not associated with Dusty by the public at large.
